Departmental Service (Colby College)
- Writing across the Curriculum Liaison: Coordination of meetings with writing program to review results of Phase 2 and plan Phase 3 plan for departmental writing-based learning objectives.
- Search Committee Member: Served on three searches Spring 2022 – CS TT and Visitor, Davis Institute for AI post-doc.
- Student Advising: Advised 35 first year students for 2021-22 academic year.
- Increasing participation of underrepresented groups in CS. My contributions include individual student mentoring, hiring research assistants, advising Women in CS and Mathematics group.
- Training student TAs and graders for CS dept. The grading manager for a course writes the guidelines for grading, sends out the grading assignments to 3-8 graders, then reads the grading files to check for consistency before sending them out to students.
- Faculty advisor to WJHS coding club. Advise and mentor student co-directors, coordinate and plan with school district computer science curriculum coordinator, network with Maine CSTA leadership.
- Increasing visibility of Colby CS. The department has an established priority to be visible participants in the national conversation about CS education. I participated and presented in the primary computer science education conference on pedagogy (ACM SIGCSE 2019-22).
